Thalassery Fish Curry


  • Fish(Sardine, mackerel or any white fish, cut & cleaned)
  • 1/2 tsp Beevi’s turmeric powder
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tbs ginger, cut in small pieces
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Curry leaves – 8-10 leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Beevi’s chili powder
  • 2 to 3 raw mangoes (make cubes)
  • 1 big tomato, chopped
  • 2 tsp Beevis Fish curry masala
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

To Grind:

  • 3/4 cup coconut, grated
  • 1/2 tsp Beevi’s turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Beevi’s red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds


Mix the fish pieces with salt and keep to one side.

In a chatti (Claypot) cook tomatoes with water adding raw mangoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, ginger pieces, curry leaves and salt.

In the meantime grind the coconut with turmeric powder, cumin seeds and chilli powder .Add this grinded paste and Beevis Fish curry masala to the gravy.

Take this gravy to a boil and then add fish pieces.

Cook on low flame till the fish pieces are cooked properly. (Do not overcook or blend the fish pieces).

Pour 1 tsp coconut oil over the fish curry and garnish with curry leaves.
